psychosocial recovery coacHING, SOCIAL WORK & PSYCHOTHERAPY

As per the The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Social Work is defined as:

“Social work is a tertiary qualified profession recognised internationally that pursues social justice and human rights. Social workers aim to enhance the quality of life of every member of society and empower them to develop their full potential. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversity are central to the profession, and are underpinned by theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and Indigenous knowledges. Professional social workers consider the relationship between biological, psychological, social and cultural factors and how they influence a person’s health, wellbeing and development. Social workers work with individuals, families, groups and communities. They maintain a dual focus on improving human wellbeing; and identifying and addressing any external issues (known as systemic or structural issues) that detract from wellbeing, such as inequality, injustice and discrimination.” (AASW 2020).

Our Social Worker, Kirsten, has the belief that the suffering of one person is the suffering of all.  We are one = humanity.  Kirsten has a deep awareness of dominant discourses; issues of power and oppressive systems and practices that abound in society.  Kirsten's mission is to support transformative relationships by being fully present, empathic and engaged through interpersonal and communication skills to encourage individuals to apply their own strength and resilience.

Kirsten is a registered member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Social Work and Psychotherapy Services

Lakefield Care provides Social Work services  and Psychotherapy.

Social Workers support individuals and their families through difficult times and ensure that vulnerable people, including children and adults, are safeguarded from harm. Their role is to help improve outcomes in people's lives. Social Workers maintain professional relationships as an allied health professional.  Social Workers main responsibilities are: assessment; creation and implementation of treatment plans; secure and refer needed resources;  evaluate and monitor improvement; and serve as an individual's advocate.

In Psychotherapy, Kirsten will work with you to facilitate self-knowledge, encourage emotional acceptance and growth to optimise your development of personal resources.  Together, Kirsten will work with you on your personal goals so that you may gain greater insight into your life.

Telehealth Sessions available.

We are also able to provide tele-health (via phone or Zoom) sessions to service participants anywhere in Australia.

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Our Psychosocial Recovery Coaches support the individual to maintain engagement through periods of increased support needs due to the episodic nature of mental illness.  Recovery coaches work collaboratively with participants, families, carers and other services to identify, plan, design and coordinate NDIS supports.  We have Psychosocial Recovery Coaches based in North Brisbane and South Brisbane ready to commence supporting you today.
